example:

3/4+3/8=?

First find a common multiple: 8

then make sure the denominator for each is 8.

To do that for the first fraction you have to multiply the denominator by 2...and whatever you do to the denominator you have to do to the numerator. so you multiply the 3 also.

3/4=6/8

since the denominator for the second fraction is already 8, you dont do anything to it/it stays the same!

add across and the new equation is: 6/8+3/8=9/8

Hope it helped!
