27^2 - 4(4)(35) = 169 > 1, so 2 real roots, though they may be ugly.

X = -b +/- sqrt(b^2-4ac)/2a

a = 4

b = 27

c = 35

X = -27 +/- sqrt[27^2 - 4(4)(35)]/2(4)

X = -27 +/- sqrt(169)/8

X = [-27 +/- 13]/8

X = - 7/4

X = -5
