For example you have 5/25. You pick a number for example 10. you multiply the denominator by 10 and that's the new denominator and you would multiply the numerator by 10 also and that would be your new numerator. So in this case it would be 50/250. Now you don't have to multiply them by 10 but you do have multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number that you pick.

∙ 11y agoIf you can multiply both the numerator and denominator of one fraction by the same number to get the other fraction then the fractions are equivalent.
For example, 5/6 and 10/12 are equivalent because 5 x 2 = 10 and 6 x 2 = 12

∙ 9y agoBy dividing the numerator and the denominator of the fraction by the same number as for example 4/16 = 2/8 = 1/4

The number 1.55 is read as '1 and 55 one hundredths,' which is equal to the fraction 155/100. Using the least common denominator, this fraction can be 'reduced' to 31/20.
2 91/625
Usually this is done by dividing a mass by a volume.
2/4=4/8
They are alike because yu can turn a ratio into a fraction or it is already one.
1/5
3/4
Divide the numerator and the denominator by their greatest common factor to reduce to its lowest equivalent fraction. For example, 169/260=13/20 after dividing the numerator and the denominator by 13.
Because doing so is equivalent to multiplying or dividing by x/x, which can be cancelled down to 1.
Most people find multiplication by a fraction easier than dividing by a fraction. Dividing by a fraction is equivalent to multiplying by its reciprocal. For example, 10 / (3/4) would require you to divide by 3/4. How many three-quarters in ten? Hmmm... Not that easy. Instead, try multiplying by 4/3 Much easier: 10*(4/3) = 40/3 = 13.33...
You turn the decimal into a fraction. Then you can find the equivalent fraction.
a fraction that can be changed by dividing it is called an improper fraction.
It is the basic law of algebra. When you multiply or divide both by the same number you do not change the value, as it is the same as multiplying or dividing by 1.
4/5 (its lowest term) is an equivalent fraction of 24/30. 24/30 was reduced to 4/5 by dividing both the numerator and the denominator by 6.
15% = 15/100. Dividing the top and bottom by 5, gives the equivalent fraction, 3/20
Convert to its decimal equivalent (by dividing denominator into numerator).
You can multiply the numerator and the denominator of a fraction by any non-zero integer to get an equivalent fraction.
