A composite number is a number that can be divided without a remainder by a number other than one and itself. In other words, any number that is not prime. 24 is divisible by 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 12 as well as 1 and 24.

One method to test if a number is composite is to ask yourself if it has a factor other then 1 or itself. If it does, then it is a composite number. If not, it is prime
