If you have a message along the lines of "Error, turn of calculator then turn back on," and can't seem to be able to download the software to update the calculator, this really helps.
1) Download IT Connect.
2) Go to the website below to find the newest version of software for your calculator.
3) DO NOT click download. Instead, right click on the link, and hit SAVE LINK AS. Save the link to your desktop.
4) Open IT Connect. It should come to a screen with seven icons including TI DeviceExplorer as an example.
5) Take the link that you pasted on the desktop and drag it into the empty space in IT Connect.
6) Connect your calculator and turn it on.
7) Take out one of the batteries. Then press the DEL key FIRST, then put the battery in while holding that key down.
8) Click on DOWNLOAD and it should take anywhere from 5-10 minutes for the system to update.
9) When the download is complete, the screen should say something like "Validating, Progress 100%" At this point, DO NOT turn off or unplug the calculator.
10) Wait 5-10 minutes for calculator to reset. When it is reset, the screen RAM CLEARED should come up, and just hit clear to remove it.

The TI-85 was the second graphing calculator made by Texas Instruments. (The first was the TI-81). The TI-84 is a much newer version and has more functionality and memory. The only real advantage that the TI-85 has over the TI-84 is that it costs less. (If the TI-84 is too expensive, look into getting a TI-83. This model is also newer than the TI-85.)

How do you find intersection points on TI84 calculator?
Graph the two lines or equations you want to find the intersection of. Then adjust the window so that you can see the intersection point. (If you don't know where it is, try pressing ZOOM and choosing ZoomFit.) Then press 2ND CALC (above TRACE) and choose option 5, intersect. Use the up and down arrows to select the first equation you want to find the intersection point on, and press ENTER. Do the same thing for the second equation. The calculator will now say "Guess?". Use the left and right arrows to move the x-like shape as close to the intersection point as possible, then press ENTER. The calculator will tell you the intersection point and the bottom of the screen. If you get a NO SIGN CHNG error, then it might be because the intersection point is not on the screen. Change the window so that you can see the intersection point and try again. Also, make sure that your guess is somewhat close to the intersection point.
