I would set up a table of values and calculate several of the values of the variables (I would try to calculate the "interesting" values setting one to zero and calculating the other(s), guessing at a maximum or minimum value etc.

Then I would plot the values on graph paper.

What does a linear equation graph look like?

A linear function is a function whose graph is a straight line.

What different information do you get from vertex form and quadratic equation in standard form?

The graph of a quadratic function is always a parabola. If you put the equation (or function) into vertex form, you can read off the coordinates of the vertex, and you know the shape and orientation (up/down) of the parabola.

What is linear function?

A function is an equation that is a straight line when plotted on a graph.

You cannot, necessarily. Given a graph of the tan function, you could not.

What are 3 different methods that can graph a linear equation?

You could put the equation in slope-intercept form or in parent linear function or even make a table of values.

How do you determine if a relation represents a function?

If the function is a straight line equation that passes through the graph once, then that's a function, anything on a graph is a relation!

Is y equals 3x plus 1 a function?

First, you have to have domain and range, a graph, or an equation in slope-intercept form ( y=mx + b) to determine if an equation is a function. The slope intercept form here is Y=3/1x + 1. So Yes, this equation is a function. If you want to know how to convert into y=mx + b form, ask how to do it here, or look it up on the internet. Hope I helped :-)
