Math is hard and is a weak subject to many students. Math can be hard but not impossible to do. It takes some kids a 1-2 minutes to solve a problem, which is pretty fast! But some kids take a few more minutes to finish a problem. But that doesn't mean that they aren't smart. Math just might not be on the bright side of their mind. They probably think it's boring, but once you get into math, you start getting the hang of the problems and their patterns. Math is a whole different world of exploration. Maybe to make kids better in math, you should start playing more math games with them. Relate real world issues to math. Use what they like in terms of math. Once they start understanding the basic concept and critical thinking of math, they will slowly start building their foundation. However, if they are not willing to work and cannot focus their interest in math, do not push them. Pushing kids into doing math will not build their interest. Without the proper interest in math, math can be pretty darn boring! They will most probably feel they are being forced into doing things. Just try to be patient, and try to get your kid engaged in math in a fun and more interactive way! :)
