Connect all white wires together under a wire nut and push them back into the box. Connect all ground wires together and then connect them with a jumper wire to the ground screw on the switch. Connect black power in and power out, if applicable, wires to the bottom screw on the switch. Connect the remaining black wire going to the light to the top screw on the switch.
It would be a lengthy process explaining that without a drawing. I suggest, you look at the drawing of th switch.

If you are adding the pull chain to an existing fixture then the pull chain switch should have two wires. Wire nut either one to the hot wire coming in and the other to the black wire of the fixture.
Wire is the transition material used to carry the electric current; the switch is the controller of that current.

For starters, a four way switch must be connected to either a four way switch or a three way switch on either side. Said differently, here are some common combinations: 3way---------4way-----------3way 3way---------4way-----------4way------------3way 3way---------4way-----------4way------------4way----------------3way etc. If you are using a four way switch anywhere in a circuit both ends must have three way switches. You can use as few as one four way between the three ways, or as many as you would like. First of all, connect your white (neutral) wire straight through every box, from the power source to the light fixture being controlled. That neutral has nothing to do with the switches. On your three way switches you will see two bright screws and one dark. (Excluding the green grounding screw). One three way switch will have its dark screw connected to the power source. Two wires will run from the bright screws to the next box (the 4 way switch box). Those two wires will connect to the two bright screws on one side of the four way. The four way also has dark screws, but two of them. Connect two wires to these two dark screws, and run them to the next switch box. If the next switch box is another 4 way, repeat this again and again until you get to the last switch (a three way). Wire the last three way as follows: the two wires coming from the previous 4 way go to the bright screws. The hot wire feeding the light fixture will be the one to connect to the single dark terminal of the last 3 way switch. That's it! As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.If you do this work yourself, always turn off the powerat the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work AND always use a meter or voltage indicatorto insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized. Wire the switch to the hot/black lead.
You have a 3 way switch. Your black wire is the hot wire. Your green wire is the ground wire. Your red and white wires go to the light and other switch. You should have gotten a wiring diagram with your switch.
A switch is inserted in series with a single wire. When the switch is on, it is as if the wire had not been opened to insert the switch. When the switch is off the wire is open and no current can flow. All a double pole switch does is allows you to switch two separate wires at the same time with the same switch action. A single pole switch just switches one wire.
There is no flasher unit. Spray WD40 around 4way flasher switch on top of thesteering column. Operate switch a few times. Worked for me on my 94 T-Bird.
with a standard 1 pole light switch (one switch operating the light) it is black wire to black wire and white to white (non grounded)
