One way a concrete layer could use Algebra is to determine how many bricks will be needed for a project:

Joe needed to make a concrete wall 20 feet long and 8 feet tall. The concrete cricks he needs to use are 8"X8"X16" (actually a little less to allow for the mortar). How many bricks should he buy?

Bricks = Wall Area / Brick Area -> ALGEBRA!
