How high off the floor should a range outlet box be?

As close to the floor as possible, or on the floor. Remember you want the range to sit back against the wall. So you must mount the outlet so it goes into the opening at the bottom of the stove. Otherwise when you plug it in, the plug will hit the back of the stove.

There's nothing special about the height of a kitchen outlet box. It does not have to be mounted at a certain height. Where in the kitchen is it? A receptacle for a fridge might be located at 36 inches, 48 inches, or 12 inches. Over a countertop, typically the center of the box is installed 4 inches above the top of your backsplash, so that the bottom of the finished receptacle and plate is about 2 inches above the backsplash. A microwave outlet box mounted over a range, etc. might be at 60 inches on center. A range, 24 inches on center. Typically, you tend to see the following on architectural prints: Convenience receptacles (no other purpose): 12-18" on center Refrigerator receptacles: 48" O.C. Microwave receptacles: 64" O.C. Light Switches: 48" O.C. Countertop Receptacles: 46" O.C. When laying out receptacles that might conflict with cabinetry or countertops, make sure to check the dimensions and location of such items. Final note: when installing the actual receptacles, be sure to install GFCI receptacles in the proper locations.
