This means that some of the current passes through one of them, and the rest of the current passes through the other one. (And the circuit layout for any number of parallel resistors works in similar manner.) if you have two resistors, one of 3 ohms and the other of 5 ohms, more electricity will flow through the lower resistor (because it's "easier" that way).
