Common sense with electrical systems dictates that current in a circuit be limited to 80% of nameplate (20A). The number of 150W lamps will be limited to 12 in this scenario. This answer can be superseded by local ordinance.

How many watts are in 100 2.5 volt bulbs?

This question does is not answerable. A watt is a volt times an amp. With out knowing how many amps the bulbs use there is no answer.

How many amps would a 150 watt bulb draw in a 120v circuit?

1 amp

How many 100 watt bulbs can a 110 volt circuit handle?

To answer this question, you need to know how many amps the circuit that is connected to the light bulb can handle. For home applications with a 15 amp circuit and no other loads connected you get: Power = Current * voltage, Substituting the known information yields: power = 15 amps * 110 volts, which is 1650 watts of total capacity. You have 100 watt bulbs, so: 1650/100 = 16.5 bulbs If your circuit is other than 15 amps, or if there is additional loads on the circuit, you must adjust the current or total capacity accordingly

How many 100 watt lights per breaker?

I would use no more 14 100watt bulbs on a 15 amp circuit or 19 bulbs on a 20 amp circuit. You can calculate this by taking 80% of circuit amperage I.E 12 amps or 16 amps and then multiply by circuit voltage(120) to get 1440 watts and 1920 watts. Then take these values divided by bulb wattage(100 watts) to get 14.4 bulbs and 19.2 bulbs. Then round down for partial bulbs to get 14 bulbs and 19 bulbs.

How many watts on a 40 amp circuit breaker?

about 4800 watt but should not use it 100% so to be safe 4000 watt (80%)

How many sixty watt bulbs could you connect in a bedroom?

The voltage of the bulbs is needed to answer this question. If we assume the voltage is 120 then the maximum wattage allowed on a 15 amp circuit is 1800 watts before the circuits over current device will trip. 1800/60 = 30 bulbs. To be certain that the circuit does not trip, only connect 29 bulbs to the circuit. If the circuit is considered as a continuous load then the load rating has to be reduced to 80% capacity. 1800 x .8 = 1440. With this de rating the number of bulbs allowed on the circuit would be reduced to 24 bulbs. This circuit would have to be a dedicated circuit and could not be combined with receptacles which could vary the load depending on what is plugged into them.

How many 150 watt flood lights can be on a 20 amp circuit?

The voltage needs to be known to give an answer to this question.

How many 50 watt lights on a 15 amp circuit?

50 watt equals less than 1/2 amp current flow at 120 volts so you can have 30 light on a 15amp breaker or 40 on a twenty amp breaker.

Can you upgrade a 15 Amps circuit breaker for a 40 Amp for a 8.5 Watt shower?

Not unless you change the wiring for that circuit. The breaker protects the wiring and if you install a 40 amp breaker on a 15 amp wire circuit you will have a fire in your home.

How many 40 watt regular lights can you put on a 20 amp switch?

You can safely put 48 regular (incandescent) 40 watt lights on a 20 amp circuit. If at some future date you might place higher wattage lights in the circuit, you will want to limit the number of lights to 20.

How many cans on one 15 amp breaker?

Assuming the can lights is all that will be on this 15 amp 120 volt circuit and each one has no more than a 75 watt bulb installed you can install up to 19. This is determined by multiplying the amps x the voltage to get the wattage. 15 x 120 = 1800. Then multiply the 1800 x 80% and you get 1440 which places an 80% load on the circuit which is all you safely want. You then divide the 1440 by 75 which is the wattage of each bulb and you get 19.2. You could add more if you use fluorescent bulbs but someone could come along later and install incandescent bulbs and overload the circuit. So stick with no more that 19 to be safe. Remember this is a 15 amp ciruit so you must use AWG # 14 wire and not #12. If you use AWG #12 and a 20 amp breaker you can have 25 can lights with 75 watt bulbs on the circuit.

How many 100 watt lamps can be used on a 15 amp circuit at 120 volts?

The formula you are looking for is Watts = Amps x Volts.
