Hi, Typically when you see numbers such as 24/36/48/60 on model numbers of central cooling units or window units that is an indication of the work they are capable of performing in B.T.U.s an Hour. ( British Thermal Units per Hour). So your unit indicates a 24 which can be refined to 24,000 BTUH which is basically the same as saying 2 tons of refrigeration effect. 12,000 BTUH = 1 Ton of refrigeration effect. So,, in all probability your unit has a two ton cooling effect rating. Hope this helps: Jimiwane
