The perimeter is the measure of length of the boundary of a 2-dimensional object.

The most common mathematical objects in this category are squares, rectangles, circles and triangles.

The perimeter of a square = 4d (where d is the length of 1 side)

The perimeter of a rectangle = 2l + 2w (where l is the length and w is the width)

The perimeter of a circle = 2πr (where π is the mathematical constant pi and r is the radius. The perimeter of a circle is better known as the circumference)

The perimeter of a triangle is the total length of all three sides.
