Linear discrete time signal?

The linear discrete time interval is used in the interpretation of continuous time and discrete valued: Quantized signal.

What is a definition of discrete data?

data that can be counted, that does not show a change over time

Is the number of foggy days at an airport continuous or discrete?

Either fog occurs on a day, or it does not. Therefore it is a discrete value.

Why discretize continuous models?

I hope I understand your question is related to the discretization of phenomena/ processes. The reason we do it is to get answers. I will extend a bit the question - as to why we take a continuous process/ phenomena and break it down into discrete segments, blocks, cells, etc. Some continuous processes are described by differential equations, and have general solutions. But not all processes are solvable through calculus. If we can describe a process in a discrete "control volume" at a point in time, then this can be extended to model a system with a network of cells or mesh. In doing so, we are discretizing the process in both the time and spatial dimensions. From the discretize system, time and spatial-variant responses of the system of key components of the system can be obtained through numerical methods. This is done in many of the scientific/ engineering fields, including hydrology, ecology, petroleum reservoir simulation, aeronautics and atmospherical studies. Ozone depletion and global warming models are good examples of discretized continuous systems.

What is the difference between continuous and discrete system?

The difference between continuous and discrete system lies in the variables. Whereas the continuous systems have dynamic variables, the discrete system have static variables.

Can you give me a sentence with the word discrete?

The College Authority made the administrative system with three discrete divisions.

What is difference between continuous simulation system and discrete simulation system?

Discrete simulation systems records events at regular time intervals when a simulation component generates output. Continuous simulation systems record events on a nearly continuous basis, using a relatively small time unit between event recordings. Discrete simulation is usually faster while still providing an accurate picture of the system's behavior.

Is minute a discrete or continuous variable?

It is discrete even though time itself is continuous.

Is date a discrete or continuous variable?

Date is a discrete variable whereas date/time would be continuous.

Can discrete signals have fractional periods?

NO . the period of a discrete time periodic signal cannot be in fractions. note that the fundamental period of a discrete time signal is given by. N=m(6.2831/Wo) Where Wo is the fundamental frequency and N and m are integers...
