A rigid shape is when you cant push/pull on it and make it turn into a different shape. You can make shapes rigid by adding "braces", which are lines that you put inside the shape to make triangles (which are rigid). For instance, a square is notrigid. To make it rigid, you would put a brace inside diagonally. This would create TWO triangles, and therefore, rigid. ~xDragonx
The answer will depend on what the shape is. And since you have not bothered to share that crucial bit of information, I cannot provide a more useful answer.
If the straw were normal and 8.25 inches then it would take 4.772121212121212... straws.
There are various types of dodecahedrons. A regular dodecahedron has twelve faces, each with five edges. Altogether there are thirty edges. So you could make a regular dodecahedron with thirty straws, or one very long one! You could even make one with sixty straws, but you would have to join them together in pairs to make the thirty edges! For more information, see 'Related links' below this box.

That's going to depend on what shape you're building, which, as far as I can see, you neglected to mention.
A rigid transformation means it has the same size and shape so it would be a dilation

A zeppelin was a lighter-than-air craft like a blimp or balloon, yet it had a rigid airframe like a heavier-than-air craft. If you punctured a hole in a nonrigid blimp or balloon, or a semi rigid dirigible, it would deflate and lose its shape, whereas the rigid airframe of a zeppelin would hold its shape.

You will need to create a box that wraps around the egg with as much cushion as possible. I would take the straws and box in the eggs with several layers. There a number of ways to help protect the egg. It would be a lot easier if you could use more items the just the straws.
assuming the straws do not bend, you would need six
16 straws.
