d = n + 4;

(n + 3)/(n + 7) = 3/4

Cross multiply: 4n + 12 = 3n + 21

n = 9, making d = 13, ie original fraction was 9/13

12/16 = 3/4. Job done

How do you write a mixed number to a fraction?

You multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add the numerator of the original fraction to get the numerator of your new fraction. The denominator stays the same as the original. Then you simplify into lowest terms.

How do you make an improper number into a whole number?

Three methods immediately spring to mind:Multiply the improper fraction by its denominator (or any multiple of the denominator);divide the numerator by the denominator to get a remainder. Put this as a fraction over the denominator and subtract it from the original fraction and then simplify this resulting fraction;divide the numerator by the denominator to get a remainder. Subtract this from the denominator and put this as a fraction over the denominator and add it from the original fraction and then simplify this resulting fraction.However I suspect you really meant to ask how to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number:Divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number) to get a whole number and a remainder;put this remainder as the numerator over the original denominator to make a fractionput this fraction with the whole number result of the division in step one.eg convert 22/5 to a mixed number:22 ÷ 5 = 4 remainder 2remainder 2 ⇒ 2/5whole number is 4 ⇒ mixed number is 42/5Thus 22/5 = 42/5

What fraction is equivalent to two and two fifths?

To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction, multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the result to the numerator. This number is the numerator, and the original denominator is the denominator. For 2 2/5, 2 * 5 = 10, 10 + 2 = 12. The resulting improper fraction is 12/5

When you exchange the numerator and denominator of a fraction the new number is called what?

the reciprocal of the original fraction

How do you make an improper in to a mixed fraction?

The improper fraction usually has a numerator that is greater than the denominator. Divide the numerator by the denominator. In most cases you will get a quotient and a remainder. Now write the quotient and suffix it with the fraction represented by the remainder obtained above as the numerator and the original denominator as the new denominator as well.

What is it called when you switch over the Numerator and Denominator?

The resulting number is the reciprocal of the original number.

How do you tell if a fraction can be reduced?

If the numerator and denominator have any common factors (other than 1), then both the numerator and denominator can be divided by the common factor, and the new fraction will be equivalent to the original fraction in reduced form.

Which fraction has the same value and look different?

The fraction that you get when you multiply the numerator and denominator of the original fraction both by the same number.

When you exchange the numerator and denominator of a fraction what is the new number is called?

It is the reciprocal of the original number.

What is a rule on how to find a ratio with a denominator if 1 without using a diagram?

Divide the numerator of the original fraction y its denominator.

When you exchange the numerator and denominator of a fraction the new number is called what of a fraction?

It is called the reciprocal unless the original numerator was zero. In that case the result of exchanging is not valid.

How do you convert mixed numbers to fractions?

To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, divide the denominator into the numerator. The answer is the whole number. Put any remainder over the original denominator to create the fraction part.
