What are the parts of multiplication.

The numbers being multiplied are called "factors" or "multiplicands". The result is the "product"

The names and order they go in are: multiplicand, multiplier, and the answer to the multiplication problem is: product.

OR

if 3 x 5 = 15; 3 is the multiplicand, 5 is the multiplier and 15 is the product.
Factors are what are multiplied to get a product (the result).

What is the number part of a product?

The number part of a product refers to the numerical value that results from multiplying two or more numbers together. In a mathematical expression, it is the outcome of the multiplication operation. For example, in the product of 3 and 4, the number part is 12, which is the result of the multiplication. This concept is fundamental in arithmetic and algebra, forming the basis for more complex mathematical operations.

when were multiplication tables invented?

Multiplication tables have been used since ancient times, with some of the earliest known examples dating back to the Babylonians around 2000 BCE. The ancient Greeks and Romans also utilized multiplication tables for calculations. The concept of a standardized multiplication table became more widespread in the Middle Ages, particularly in Europe, as arithmetic became a crucial part of education. The multiplication table we commonly use today was popularized in the 16th century.

Is a multiplication a partial product?

No, multiplication itself is not a partial product; rather, partial products are the individual products obtained when multiplying each digit of one number by each digit of another number, particularly in multi-digit multiplication. For example, when multiplying 23 by 45, the partial products would be 20 times 40, 20 times 5, 3 times 40, and 3 times 5. These partial products are then summed to get the final result of the multiplication. Thus, while partial products are part of the multiplication process, they are not the multiplication itself.
