7x + 6y + 20 = 180

We're just going to re-arrange it a bit, without changing anything:

Subtract (7x+20) from each side of the equation:

6y = -7x + 160

Divide each side by 6:

y = - 7/6 x + 80/3

This is exactly the same equation that you gave us in the question. But when we

write it in this form, we can see that it's the equation of a straight line that has a

slope of (- 7/6) and cuts the y-axis of the graph at (y = 80/3).

Every point on that line has a pair of coordinates ... one 'x' and one 'y' ... that are

a solution of the equation. And you know how many points there are on a line . . .
