These can be caused by lymph nodes. Usually people with Allergies or some disease that is hard on the immune system can have lumph node problems because lymph nodes filter and are working over-time. Have your doctor check this out to be sure this isn't the problem. If so, the lymph nodes can be taken out. THIS DOES NOT MEAN IT'S CANCER! Pea-sized and mobile? Firm? Most likely small sebaceous [oil gland] cysts... Probably when you're under stress you 'play' with them [roll them around between your finger & thumb] and irritate them... That would explain why they seem to swell somewhat and become sore... If they suddenly start growing, or bother you enough to make an appointment to see a doctor/PA/NP, then by all means, see someone and get that worry off your mind!

They could have been there from birth and grown larger into adulthood and you never really paid attention to them. I have done a lot of research on this and found nothing on this sort of thing. Think about what you have been doing. If the lumps seem to be on the same spot on each side of your skull then perhaps you are wearing a bike helmet or if you are male, helmets in sports and it's irritating your skull causing the lump. It could also be bony spurs, but this is unlikely. Any lumps should be checked out by your doctor.
