There are two versions of the heptathlon, one contested outdoors mainly by women and one contested indoors mainly by men.

Woman's Heptathlon:

First Day: 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meter dash

Second Day: long jump, javelin throw, 800 meter run

Men's Heptathlon:

First Day: 60 meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump

Second Day: 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, 1000 meter run
