Best Answer

Prime factorization.
Example: 30 and 42
Factor them.
2 x 3 x 5 = 30
2 x 3 x 7 = 42
Select the common factors.
2 x 3 = 6, the GCF
Combine the factors, eliminating duplicates.
2 x 3 x 5 x 7 = 210, the LCM
Check it.
30 x 42 = 1260
210 x 6 = 1260
It checks.

What is the GCF of 52 and 116?

normally known as HCF by the way. 4 is my answer.

What is the LCM of 2 and 4 and 5 and 6?

easiest way take 6 and go through its multiples until you find a number that is divisible by all four numbers, 6,12,18 etc in this case 60 is the answer

How do you find the LCM and HCF of a set of numbers?

A Factor Is A Number That Divides Into Another Number Exactly. E.g. The Factors Of 12 Are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 And 12.If You Were Trying To Find The Highest Common Factor You Write Out The Factors Of All Numbers. E.g. 20 And 30.Factors Of 20: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 And 20.Factors Of 30: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15 And 30.So The Highest Common Factor Of 20 And 30 Is 10 Because It Is The Highest Factor That Appears In Both Factor Lists. It Is The Same For The LCM Except You Write Out The Multiples Of The numbers Instead. E.g. 5 And 6.Multiples Of 5: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, And 50.Multiples Of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54 And 60.So The Lowest Common Multiple Is 30. It Appears In Both Lists And Is The Lowest. An easy way to find the HCF of a pair of numbers is listing out the prime factors. A way to do that is to use a factor tree. Find the common prime factors and multiply them together. e.g. if the prime factors were (2,2,3,3,3,5) and (2,3,3,5,5,7) then you would multiply 2,3,3 and 5.

How do you find the LCM of a number using a list?

You can only find the LCM of two or more numbers. One way to do this is by listing the multiples of each number until you reach a number that appears on both lists. Example 30 and 42 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210 42, 84, 126, 168, 210 210 is the LCM of 30 and 42

How do you use the ladder meathod to find the GCF and the LCM of a number?

You don't find the GCF and LCM of a single number, you need at least two. Ladders, trees, fireworks, rainbows... It's all the same thing, just different ways of writing the factors on the page. Find a way that works for you. To find the GCF and LCM of 30 and 42, you need to factor them. 30 42 15,2 21,2 5,3,2 7,3,2 2 x 3 x 5 = 30 and 2 x 3 x 7 = 42 To find the GCF, select the common factors. 2 x 3 = 6, the GCF. To find the LCM, combine the factors, eliminating duplicates. 2 x 3 x 5 x 7 = 210, the LCM

Can you find the HCF of 3 numbers using euclids division lemma?

Yes.First find the HCF of two of the numbers, then find the HCF of that answer and the third number. In this way you could find the HCF of as many numbers as you want.

What is LCM of 7 and 2?

no.. Its 14.. easiest way to find the LCM is to multiply the two numbers. (two times seven is fourteen)

Can the LCM be 1?

No, as LCM deals with two or more numbers. The only way for it to be one is if you only had 1. But you can't find the LCM of a single number, there must be two or more. So, there is no LCM of 1.

What is the LCM of 381014?

There must be at least 2 numbers in order to determine a LCM. However, in your question, you only have 1 number stated (381014). Thus, there is no way to find a LCM.

What is the LCM of 46 and 69?

lcm of 46 and 69 = 139 an easy way to figure this out is by multiplying together the following: prime factors they have in common * prime factors that just 46 has * prime factors just 69 has.

How you can find the LCM and HCF of two numbers in java programming?

Greatest (or highest) common factor: Euclid's algorithm is very appropriate for computer programming. For example, the greatest common factor of 14 and 10 is the same as the greatest common factor of 10 and 4, where 4 is the remainder of the division of 14 / 4. In computer code, it would look something like this:long hcf(long a, long b) { long remainder = a % b; return remainder == 0 ? b : hcf(b, a % b); } For the least common multiple, use the fact that lcm(a, b) * hcf(a, b) == a * b: long lcm(long a, long b) { return a * b / hcf(a, b); } Notes: Note that the first function uses recursion. Of course you can also write it as a loop. But recursion makes the function extremely simple!I used the "long" data type to allow for larger numbers. If you change that to "int", you are limited to numbers up to about 2 billion.I am assuming that the two functions are in the same class. You may want to define them as static; that way you don't need to instantiate an object in order to use the functions. This is similar to the way you use the Math class, for example, Math.sqrt() - here you specify the name of the class, without creating an object.

How do you find equivalent fractions with high numbers?

It is not clear whether you have a fraction with high numbers and want to find a simple equivalent fraction or you have a simple fraction but want it with high numbers. I have assumed the first. The quick way is to find the highest common factor (HCF) of the numerator and denominator and divided both by that number. If finding the HCF looks difficult, find ANY factor and divide both by that number. Repeat with the new fraction until the HCF is 1. At each stage the fraction will have smaller numbers and so the task becomes easier.
