Why do calibration standards need to be calibrated every three years?

Simply put to insure quality...There are many kinds of calibration standards out there. We at, Exaxol, make ICP, AA, Ion Chromatography, EPA, pH, and Conductivity standards among other things. They all have different shelf lives due to there matrix or stabilizers. Many require high purity acids to dissolve in solution and over time CO2 from the air will make carbonic acid in your standardized solution. This will affect pH dependent solutions and add impurities.Tolerances are a big deal in many industries and even mechanical and digital measuring devices such as scales and electrodes need to be checked annually to maintain accuracy in your work.I added a link to a more lengthy pH discussion if you were looking for more than a short answer response!www.exaxol.com

Are other people having fuel mileage issues with th new 6.4 ford power stroke?

Yes I have a 2008 at the first tank 15+mpg after 2700 miles present 8 mpg Iwas told from Ford that its the fuel cetane so I purchased ford cetane boost did not do a thing I asked about a reprogram for the hesitation from start , and lack of power and fuel mileage they said vehicle runs within fords parameters. Then told you probably wont see better milage until I get 15000.miles B */S .*//.Its a beautiful truck rides fantastic. well done interior .but the engine is worse . PS I had a 2007 ford 6.0 after 5 turbos . and 7 reprograms all in 13000.miles and went through ford reps for by back . again within ford parameters. but with all the problems and a bad tubo still got 13-17 mpg The dealer was stand up about this problem and put me in the 2008 for cost to help me . but it looks like here we go again . A lot of this is not fords problems. more federal epa standards but when this truck goes into burn down to clean out the soot it increases exhaust temperature alot and burns more fuel approx 7mpg at this point . My 71 chevelle with 454 got better milage .what about global warming and fuel conservation . This should be rethougt .all in all its a beautiful truck accept for the engine youd propably better off with a gas engine

Is freon the same as R-22 and what is the price per pound for freon?

Freon is a brand name now commonly used in the industry for most refrigerants (as the brand Kleenex is commonly used for all facial tissues). R-22 is a blend that is scheduled to be obsolete in 2020. Manufacturers may not produce R-22 air conditioners and heat pumps after January 1, 2010. A 30 pound tank of R-22 is about $375 or $12.50 per pound as of 05-2014. This is actually about $1 less than R-410a, yet service companies will charge as much as $70 per pound to the consumer. Freons require special certifications to purchase which are costly to obtain thru classes & federal EPA monitoring and testing plus the old freon must be reclaimed and recycled or destroyed by special collection processes and expensive equipment, all which is figured into the consumers final cost per pound. So There is reason for this other than to encourage the consumer to purchase a new system. The most common new refrigerant being used in new systems is R-410A and is commonly referred to by the brand name Puron. R-410A is NOT a retrofit replacement for R-22 in existing systems as it requires higher system pressures. Currently, the best retrofit replacements for R-22 are R-421A and R-422B (trade name NU22B). These may be substituted for R-22 after a complete system evac and filter change with no oil change required. Another excellent retrofit is R-427A which was designed exclusively for retrofit use, however it does require an oil change.
