A parallelogram is a 4-sided plane figure with its opposite sides parallel to each other, opposite sides equal to each other, and opposite angles equal to each other; the adjacent sides are not necessarily equal to each other, so a parallelogram can have two sides of one length and two sides of another length.

A rhombus is a parallelogram with all 4 sides equal to each other in length; i.e., not only are its opposite sides equal but its adjacent sides are also equal.

Every rhombus is a parallelogram, but not every parallelogram is a rhombus.
