Factor fireworks, like factor trees, ladders, rainbows, lattices and cakes is a way to notate the process of finding the prime factorization of a given number.
Example: 210
7,5,3,2
35,3,2
105,2
210
2 x 3 x 5 x 7 = 210
7,2,2 14,2 28
7,2,2 14,2 28
42 21.2 7,3,2 7,3,2 21,2 42
Find the prime factorization. It doesn't matter if you use a factor tree, or rainbow or firework. For example: 42 42 21,2 3,7,2 The prime factorization of 42 is 2 x 3 x 7. The greatest prime factor is 7.
The prime factorization.
You do a factor rainbow to find a prime factorization. You compare prime factorizations to find a greatest common factor.
With a factor tree, yes.
factor tree
If completed correctly, the bottom branch of a factor tree will be the prime factorization of the number at the top.
A factor firework is just an upside down factor tree. Write the original number at the bottom. Example: 210 7,5,3,2 35,3,2 105,2 210
Factor trees, ladders, fireworks, rainbows... They're all the same thing; ways to notate the prime factorization of a given number. It doesn't matter where you write the factors on the page, pick the easiest way for you to keep track of them. Example: 210 7,5,3,2 35,3,2 105,2 210
