Simple, it it is a true barrel simple find the measurement from inside to inside of your barrel and divide by 2. IF it is not a perfect half circl barrel or true barrel, simple find your chord (measurement inside to inside) and find your rise. Once you have these measurements you can use your diameter formula to figure the radius
if the cylinder is on the inside, it would not affect the surface area. otherwise, subtract the part of the inside cylinder that touches the outside from the cylinder

The volume of a cylinder when the inside circumference is 12 feet and height is 8 feet is: 91.7 cubic feet.

Dan Wessons have a nut inside the front of the barrel that has to be removed to remove the barrel shroud and barrel. Keep in mind that Dan Wesson barrels are two pieces, the barrel itself, which is just a rifled tube that is threaded on each end, and the outer shroud. Once the barrel nut is removed the shroud just slides off and the barrel can be unscrewed from the receiver. When you put another length barrel on the gun you just screw in the new longer or shorter barrel tube, slip the shroud in place and tighten the barrel nut to hold everything in place. There is a special wrench that is designed to remove and add the barrel nut. You also need to be careful and measure the gap between the cylinder and the force cone of the barrel. DW makes a gauge to adjust this properly. If the distance is too small the cylinder can bind as it turns. A too-large gap effects accuracy and can be a safety problem.
Not enough information. A lot of S&W models fit that description. sales@countrygunsmith.net I found the serial number on mine by taking off the grip and looking at the bottom or the handle. And to find the model number, I opened the cylinder and looked just inside where it hinged open. Mine is a 10-5.

A barrel vault is a structure that spans an open area. It is a ceiling that is like half of a cylinder. Take a soup can and cut it in half from the top to bottom, and then look inside. The shape is that of a barrel vault.
It looks like pictures I have seen of a "Frank Wesson 1860 rifle" (at http://buffaloclassic.tripod.com/). The numbers "3236" are stamped inside the shaft of the stock where the barrel fits; the barrel is about 23.5 inches long and the stock is about 22 inches.
They can usually be found on side of frame, the top of barrel, the bottom of the butt, and inside the frame of cylinder area.
