There is no way to say how much of any nutrient is being absorbed by the body, because this depends on many factors. Protein is quickly digested, so the body can take it a lot at once, which means taking in a lot at once is still very effective. However, factors such as hydration and other foods consumed with the supplement can easily effect absorption.

What is meant by non-redundant protein?

Redundant protein is a term used in bodybuilding where the person takes so much protein, some of it can't be used by the body. Non-redundant protein refers to the protein which is actually used and absorbed by the body. This term is also used when referring to enzyme biology for when the substrate is protein. Is it good drinking a protein shake before going to bed?

while sleeping, we stay without food for at least 8 hours and our body gets in a catabolic stage...so it is important that before bed we give some protein to our body..but it is better that the protein is not fast absorbed but slowly absorbed so we have amino-acids through our body during the whole night and not the first 2-3 hours(that's how long takes for whey to be absorbed)...if your protein shake is with casein protein then it's ok..or you can better have some cottage cheese that also contains casein(slowly absorbed protein)...

What is a source of protein for a horse?

Hay: There is protein in most hays, the highest are (in order) alfalfa, timothy, and orchard grass. Grain: When you buy a standard pelleted grain, there's a percentage in front of it. That percentage is protein. For example, a decent (and relatively inexpensive) grain would be a 12% all stock pellet. The all stock indicates it's safe for any stock animal. (horses, cows, pigs, ect) Keep in mind that more protein (and thus the percentage at the beginning of the name) does NOT indicate better grain.

What is the DRI percentage of protein?
