There really is no "highest" area of study in math. There are innumerable ways of creating complexity in a mathematics. That is if you consider "greater complexity" to mean the same thing as "higher." Even expounding on something as "simple" as the number "1" or "0", there is a great deal of complexity that can be explored.

Mathematics can be considered a network of logical concepts where no particular hierarchy of concepts exists.
