If the wiring system in your house is that old, then there is nothing that you can do that is not going to cost you more money than what you paid for the fan. Just wrap the wire up and push it to the back of the ceiling box and enjoy your new fan.

What is black and white single wire in ceiling fan for?

Ground

In the US where do the blue red green and white wires on a fan go to when the ceiling has red black bare copper and white wires?

Black to Black - Black from the ceiling is a hot wire and should be switched Red to Blue - Red wire is another hot wire and should also be switched White to White - White from the ceiling is the neutral and should not be switched. Your wall should have two switches, one will control the red wire, one will control the black wire. If you wire your fan as above, one switch will turn the fan on, the other will turn the light of the fan on.

How do you connect a ceiling fan with white green black and blue wires on the ceiling fan?

Black wire goes to (line) which is 110v comming in to ceiling box from light switch. It will connect to either black or red, which ever they ran. White is neutral and connects to white in box. Blue is for the light kit if you are using one. You may also connect it to the black if you just use the chain to turn on light.

How do you hook up a ceiling fan with black white and green when all you have in the ceiling is black and white?

Connect it to a Ground wire. For personal safety reasons and to conform to your local Wiring Code or Regulations, if a fan unit has a Ground connection terminal you must connect it to a Ground wire.If there is no Ground wire at the mounting point for the fan then you must install a cable with a Ground wire. As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS

Do you need 3-wire romex to feed bedroom ceiling box by electrical code?

No, you can feed it with a 2 wire Romex + ground. It depends on what is mounted on the ceiling. If it is just a light all you need is 2 wire + ground Romex. However if it is a fan/light and you want to control each one independant of the other you will need to use 3 wire Romex + ground. This is of course if you have 2 seperate switches. You would then connect the red wire to the blue light wire and the black wire to the black fan wire. If you use 2 wire Romex just connect the blue and black fan/light wire to the black wire in the ceiling box.

How do you connect a ceiling fan with white green black and blue wires one the ceiling fan?

This sounds like a ceiling fan that also has a light attached to it. The black and white wires are used for the incoming supply voltage. The green is the ground wire. The blue wire is most likely the wire that goes to the lamp portion of the ceiling fan. The black and blue wires are separated from each other in the fixture so that the fan motor and the light can be independently switched. In these types of installations a three wire cable is strung from the fan switch box to the fixture box.For independent switching, the junction box should be a two gang box. From the power source in the switch box, the white wires all connect together. The incoming black connects to the top of the two switches in the two gang box. Bottom of the first switch to the black in the three wire cable, Bottom of the second switch to the red wire of the three wire cable. At the fixture junction box, incoming white wire to the fan white wire. Incoming black wire to the fan black wire and incoming red wire to the fan blue wire. If wired this way the light and fan motor can be individually switched on and off.If there is only one switch box, at the fan junction point connect the black and blue wires together to the incoming black wire. White to white wires together and green wire to the ceiling junction boxes ground terminal. In this configuration the switch will turn on both the fan and light at the same time.

What type of prewire for a ceiling fan light?

The pre wire for a ceiling fan light should be made with a three wire cable. This cable will have a red, black, and white wire as main conductors. This cable will also have a bare ground wire. This wire should be strung between a two gang switch box to the fixture junction box. This pre wire allows the supply to be either fed to the two gang box. From the two gang switch junction box, one side will be used for the light in the fixture and the other side of the switch junction box, itwill be used for the fan portionin the fixture.

Where should the green ground wire attach in a ceiling fan install going direct to a 110 outlet?

The green ground wire should be attached directly to the junction box. That is the metal housing where the house wires enter the outlet.

Need to put in ceiling fans where no electric is how do you do that?

You can go into the attic and cut an existing wire and install a junction box at that location with a cover on it. Test the wire to find one that is hot all the time. Once you find it have someone turn the breakers off, each one at a time until you find the one powering that wire. Turn that breaker off. Make sure there is enough play in the wire to allow you to connect it back together with another wire you will run to the fan location. Run a wire from that junction box to the ceiling fan box you have mounted where you want the fan. Be sure and purchase a fan ceiling box and mount it securely. Use the exact same gauge wire as the wire you cut. Make sure you are cutting a wire that has power all the time and is not on a switch. Just connect the three black wires together, whites together, and grounds together, with each one under a wire nut. Tape the wire nut and wire up solidly and put a cover on the junction box. You will now have power to the fan box location. Install your fan and turn the breaker back on. Test the fan to make sure it works. If the fan has a light on it connect the black and blue wires together and connect them to the black wire. White to white and ground to ground.

Hooking up ceiling light with 2 whites and 2 blacks and one green yellow striped wire meanwhile the two wires in the ceiling are white and black where do you hook the green yellow striped wire to?

You may not have a ground wire in your older housewiring. Hook it somewhere to the metal plate that holds the fan to the box.

How do you connect a ceiling fan to a regulator?

First make sure there is no power going to the regulator. You find the wires that are coming from the j box or regulator. You then wire one of each wire to one of each wire to the ceiling fan. You then tape the wires together but separate from each other. Then you continue to finish hanging the fan.
