This is pretty simple, but not well documented. The Scott's standard broadcast spreader setting is based on the number of pounds per 1000 square feet. For the product below, the application rate is 11.5 lbs/5000 square feet. If you want to apply 8lbs/1000 sq ft then use setting 8. Always remember not to go over the maximum amt of product per year. Tiny pieces of per-emergent or pest control product will empty much faster on a setting of say 6 than a larger product like fertilizer. So settings will vary.
