First, for it to actually be real.
Religious beliefs rely on blind faith in order to exist. You never see your god(s) - you're just assured that you will in the afterlife. Thus, it makes it difficult to prove or disprove the existence of some supreme deity. Personally, I think all religion is a crock. Others believe otherwise. I guess you'll have to wait until the afterlife to find out for certain.
You cannot prove a negative. In order to prove that something is NOT real you first have to try to prove that it is real and fail. This has been known since the time of Aristotle. So the only proof that you can have of something not being real is a lack of proof of its existence. Not a convincing argument.
It isn't prove that it is real or not real

yes.
In many cultures - ancient Egyptian or Chinese, for example - the dead weren't "gone" completely; they had crossed into a different plane or realm of existence, and they would continue to need physical things from the "real" world. In Egypt, food and wine were placed in the tombs so that the deceased would have food for their next journey. In China, paper replicas of the physical goods were burned, and the smoke of the paper image would serve as the real item in the afterlife.
