If you are able to use fractions - or smaller units - there is never a need to do so.
A metres, for an approximate measure, a centimetre for a more accurate measure.
The meter.
A kilometre. A megametre may be more appropriate but it is not a unit that is used much.
The answer depends on what you wish to measure: its length, thickness, mass, elasticity. There are many more characteristics that you may wish to measure and in most cases a different unit is required.
A liter is a measure of volume, a millimeter a measure of length. There is not comparison

Grams are a measure of weight, centimeters are a measure of length. They are not comparable.

One could use either, but it would make more sense to use meters.
There will be more yards then meters.

Well, I would use a tape measure! If you needed something a little more accurate, you could use laser measuring devices.
the common tool used for measure length is ruler . 1 ruler =15 cm.but there are many other tools for measurement that are vernier calipers, scre gauge ,circular scale ,etc.
yes, yes it is a measure of length. But it's not very useful as CM and MM are more accurate and replaced it but some people still use it
The length of the bar was never exactly measured in the first place. If you would measure several, you would see that they are not all the same length. That never was the purpose of making the bar. Weight is more important to the maker. They only want a certain amount in the bar no matter the length.
