First make the number line by drawing a horizontal line with an arrow at each end. Then put 7 or more evenly-spaced, vertical hatch marks ( very short vertical lines that extend about 1/8" above and below the horizontal line). Below the rightmost hatch mark put 0 (zero) , and then put the 6 negative numbers below the hatch marks to the left of zero. Put dots on the number line where the hatch marks for -5 and -6 cross it.

What are the steps in plotting a line graph?

There are seven steps which are: 1. Identify the variables 2. Determine the variable range 3. Determine the scale of the graph 4. Number and label each axis 5. Plot the data points 6. Draw the graph 7. Title the graph

How do you graph -6 is greater than x plus 5 as an inequality on a number graph?

The inequality -6 > x+5 can be rewritten -11 > x (by subtracting five from each side) or rather x < -11. To graph this on a number line, draw an open circle over the number -11 (if the inequality included "or equal to" the circle would be filled in). Then draw a line/arrow coming out of the circle over the number line. The line should only be drawn over the portion of the number line that makes the inequality true. For instance, choose a test point. When x is -20, the inequality is true: -20 < -11. So in this case, the arrow coming out of the open circle will point to the left, in the direction that the number line is getting smaller.

What equation has a steeper line?

For a positive number, as the slope(y=mx+b where m is the slope) gets greater in value, the line gets steeper when plotted on a graph. For a negative number, as the slope(y=mx+b where m is the slope) gets greater in value, the line gets less steep when plotted on a graph.
