When buying products, let's say Nutella, each small jar costs $2.99 while each large jar costs $4.99. The shopper can set up the equation 2.99x + 4.99y = c
Where x equals the number of small jars bought, y equals the number of large jars bought, and x equals the total cost.

more than one math uses algebra for example polynomials also use algebra and you can use algebra to figure out your pay for a year or to figure out your yearly interest on the amount you put in your savings account.
Here are the basic differences:elementary algebra:- Domain is the real numbers- Uses the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication- Uses the laws of associativity, commutativity, and distributivityBoolean algebra:- Domain is only two numbers- Uses the operations of conjunction, disjunction, and negation (AND, OR, NOT)- Uses the laws of associativity, commutativity, distributivity, absorption, and complements
Algebra is a branch of mathmatics that uses formulae to calculate unknowns
As by "who" i assume you mean what profession. Algebra is used a lot in banking, economics, and doctors who need formulas. But overall algebra is mostly used by college leveled advanced algebra teachers.

Algebra
Every science uses algebra, every social science uses algebra and all business uses algebra. And that is only a few of the places algebra is used in the real world. Science. Can not do chemistry stoichiometry without algebra. Social science. Stats are big in social science and their manipulation is algebraic. Business. Try figuring out future interest rates without algebraic formulas.
Algebra is used almost aspect of life. From the the simple y=mx equation to ratios everything is used. The most common example I see is the use of ratios at the grocery store. X price/A size=Y price/B size, to see which is the better deal. Also, law enforcement uses algebra to recreate accidents to serve justice.

A study in 2004 showed 85% of woman stated they are the primary grocery shopper. Another study in 2008 showed that figure to have dropped to roughly 66%. More recently in 2011 one study showed that men stated they were the primary grocery shopper 51% of the time. It seems trends are shifting to bur the lines between jobs held primarily by one sex or the other.
