That would depend on the angle of light on the tree.

Any height.

When the Sun is low, in the morning or evening close to the horizon, even a short object will cast a long shadow. When the Sun is directly overhead (at noon between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer) objects cast no shadow.

If you tell us your location and the time you are measuring then there would be a possibility of calculating an answer.

  • At noon on one of the equinoxes in Montpelier VT (or anywhere at the latitude of 45 degrees north or 45 degrees south) a 20 foot tall tree will cast a 20 foot shadow.

If a tree is 12 feet tall and has a 16 ft shadow how tall is a tree that casts a 20 ft shadow?

Assuming the shadows are measured at the same time of day and that the trees are on level ground, the tree with a 20-foot shadow is a quarter longer than the tree with a 16-foot shadow. Adding a quarter of the height to 12 feet makes it 15 feet tall. Alternatively use the tangent ratio which will be opposite (height of 1st tree) over adjacent (its shadow) and multiply it by the adjacent of the 2nd tree: (12/16)*20 = 15 feet tall.

A tree casts a shadow that is 20 feet long Frank is 6 feet tall and while standing next to the tree he casts a shadow that is 4 feet long How tall is the tree?

The ratios are in the same proportion, so all you need to really figure out is what is in the same ratio to 20 as 6 is to 4.

At a certain time of day a person 6 feet tall casts a 4-foot shadow How long is the shadow cast by a 21-foot tree at the same time?

Designate the unknown shadow length by s. Shadows cast at the same time and place are proportional to the height of the object casing the shadow. Therefore: 4/6 = s/21, or s = [4(21)]/6 = 14 feet.

A tree casts a shadow that is 21 feet long at the same time as a fence post casts a shadow that is 6 feet long The fence post is 4 feet tall What is the height of the tree?

Ratio of object to its shadow is the same. So if T is the height of the tree, then T/21 = 4/6 So T = 21*4/6 = 84/6 = 14 feet

A building that is 150 ft tall casts a shadow of 20 feet long at the sam time a tree casts a shadow of 2 ft how tall is the tree?

h = height of tree 150 / 20 = h / 2 h = (150/20) X 2 h = ? (you figure it out)

When a tree cast a 20 foot shadow a man 6 feet tall casts a 3 foot shadow how tall is the tree?

The man is twice as high as his shadow. Therefore, the tree must also be twice as high as its shadow, which would make the tree 40 feet tall.

If a tree 17 feet tall casts a shadow 12 feet long how high is a building that casts a shadow 19 feet long?

To cast a 19 foot shadow the building would have to be 26.91 feet tall. Each foot of building/tree casts 8.47 inches of shadow.

A tree 24 feet tall cast a shadow 16 feet long at the same time a man 6 feet tall cast a shadow x feet long what is the lenght of the mans shadow?

A vertical pole 5 feet long casts a shadow of 2 feet if at the same time a nearby tree casts a shadow of 10 feet how tall is the tree?

The tree is 25 feet tall. A 5 foot pole cast a 2 foot shadow. This means that the sun angle causes the shadow to be 2/5 the length of the object casting it. The tree's shadow is 10 feet tall. Multiply 10 feet by 5/2 (inverting the fraction because we're going the other way) and we get 25 feet.
