Answering wikianswers. lol no it really helps though - at least the things you learn in Alg I and Alg II. I use it when I calculate my money spending in real life, and in games too. It really helps to know at least the basics. And ofc you will be using it A LOT in mathematics related careers like computer engineering and researching.
