it is 3/6 but when it is simplified it is 1/2

Here is how you do it: 1/6 + 1/3

(you want to make the bottom numbers

the same so you do 3x2 to get 6 on

the bottom half and you also do 1x2

for the top half because whatever you do

to the bottom half you have to do the the top, too.)

Then you end up with 1/6 + 2/6

Now that the bottom are the same you can

add them together 1/6 + 2/6= 3/6 or 1/2
