The answer depends on where in the world. In much of the temperate zone it will be a positive correlation but in some tropical areas people are more likely to stay indoors when the temperature gets very high.

Which example represents a positive correlation?

Demand and quantity sold is an example of positive correlation. As the number of people in demand of a product increases, the quantity sold of that product also increases.

What is the strongest linear correlation?

The relationship between two random independently distributed variables is considered to be theoretically the weakest when the correlation coefficient is zero and theoretically the strongest when the correlation coefficient is one, indicating a positive relationship between two variables and negative one, indicating a negative relationationship between two variables. I state that this is a theoretical result as if variables are not random, independently distributed, then a high correlation coefficient can result. For example, let us say that we obtained the following data on age and frequency of accidents: Age 18 1 in 18 people have accidents in a year Age 25 1 in 25 people have accident in a year Age 30 1 in 30 people have accidents in a year Age 35 1 in 6 people have accidents. Age 40 1 in 400 people have accidents If I selectively calculated a correlation coefficient this data including only the three groups ages 18, 25 and 30, you can see I will have a correlation coefficient of 1, however the data was not a random sample of all ages. See related link.

Is it a number of people have or has invested?

a number of people have invested. "a number" is plural because it refers to obviously more than one.

How many is 18 percent of people?

To find 18% of a number, multiply the number by 0.18

What is the expected number of calls in one hour?

It depends on how popular a person you are and how many people know your phone number.

Would the temperature and the number of people wearing coats be a negative correlation?

Yes, as the temperature increases, the number of people wearing coats decreases.

Which type of correlation would you expect to see between the temperature and the number of ice cream bars sold?

I would expect a positive correlation. The hotter it is, the more people want to cool down with an ice cream bar. This means that as the temperature goes up, so does the number of ice cream bars that people choose to buy.

Examples of negative correlation?

Well, say the temperature out side is get getting higher. As the temperature gets higher people will start to wear less clothing. So, as the temperature increases the amount of clothing people wear will decrease. Which on a scatter plot graph would look like a slant moving "down" and to the right, which you would call a negative correlation. It's the opposite for a positive correlation, the colder it gets the more clothing people will wear...

How is correlation used when studying history?

a correlation is a pattern relating to two subjects used in comparison. if two subjects show a correlation, they are linked, and show a pattern. if they show a positive correlation, then as one rises, so does the other e.g. as the numbers of smokers increases, so does he number of people with lung cancer. if there is a negative correlation, then as one rises, the other onefalls as a result. e.g. as the number of people in rehab increases, the number of drug abusers descreases. sorry for using such unpleasnts topics but you understand now? good =] this could easily be applied to history just look for a pattern in events. there is a positive correlation between the number of German soldiers and the number of british soldiers killed during the war. this is because as the number of british soldiers killed rose, so did the numbers of German soldiers killed. could someone please give anotehr example? though my description of correlation is correct the example is a bit poor. sorry im not a histoy person =[

What is the purpose of hanging a thermometer outside?

The purpose of hanging a thermometer outside is to determine outdoor temperature near one's home. Due to the erratic weather reports, people have chosen to determine their own temperature by hanging a thermometer outside.

What is an example of positive correlation?

POSITIVE CORRELATION IS CORRELATION THAT IS LINKED. REPHRAISED IT MEANS:POSITIVE CORRELATION IS CORRELATION IN WHICH BOTH AXIS ARE LINKED. SO IN SOME EXTREME CASES IT WOULD BE, (X=Y).BUT ON WITH THE QUESTION ANSWERING.HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF POSITIVE CORRELATION:1. THE AMOUNT OF COFFEE DRUNK AND THE NUMBER OF HOURS STAYED AWAKE.2. THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE FLYING TO AUSTRALIA AND THE NUMBER OF PLANES FLYING TO AUSTRALIA.THESE CAN EASILY BE CHANGED INTO SCATTER DIAGRAMS. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT POSITIVE CORRELATION THAN COME TO HAWLEY PLACE SCHOOL nd ask to see mr freeman.OTHER EXAMPLES OF POSITIVE CORRELATION IS THAT1.MARKS OF STUDENT AND HIS QUOTIENT. IN THIS CASE THERE IS POSITIVE CORRELATION BETWEEN THESE TWO VARIABLE.ON OTHER HAND IN SOME OTHER SITUATION "INCREASE IN VALUE OF ONE VARIABLE IS ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASE IN VALUE OF ANOTHER VARIABLE OR DECREASE IN VALUE OF ONE VARIABLE IS ASSOCIATED WITH DECREASE IN VALUE OF ANOTHER VARIABLE IS CALLED POSITIVE CORRELATION".

How did people measure the temperature in 1960?

They had thermometers that were a glass tube with mercury sealed inside. There were temperature markings on the outside of the tube that when the mercury reached that point it showed what the temperature was.

What fallacy is described assuming there is no correlation between two events there is also a casual relationship?

Very few people will assume, given NO correlation, that there is also a casual relationship.I will assume that you meant the fallacy in assuming that if "there is no correlation between two events there is also nocausal relationship".Correlation is a measure of linear relationship. If there is a non-linear relationship it is possible for the correlation to be low. Or, in the extreme case of a relationship that is symmetric about a specific value of the explanatory variable, for the correlation to be zero.Very few people will assume, given NO correlation, that there is also a casual relationship.I will assume that you meant the fallacy in assuming that if "there is no correlation between two events there is also nocausal relationship".Correlation is a measure of linear relationship. Can crickets tell temperature?

Yes. In fact, the frequency of chirps corresponds to the temperature. People outside at night listening to crickets chirp can determine the temperature outside with a math problem. Count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 15 seconds and record this number or remember it. Add 37 to the number you wrote down. You now have a good estimate of the temperature outside. This equation for cricket chirping is now known as Dolbear's Law.N.B.:-- This formula produces the temperature in Fahrenheit.-- It's only good down to around 55 degrees. Below that temperature, most crickets are hiding in shelter, and those that are still out are notsinging love songs.-- The strict answer to the original question is:No. A cricket can never tell you the temperature. But youcan estimatethe temperature by observing the effect it has on the crickets' behavior.

Who loves cricket?

A fair number of people outside of Canada and the USA

How does tropical deforestation impact on people outside of the tropics?

Tropical deforestation has certainly had a frightening impact on the people outside of the tropics. These impacts include a lack of food and a rise in global temperature due to excessive CO2.
