first things first: pi is the relationship between the circumference and the diameter, which is a constant approx 3.14.

The method used to find pi is by "drawing" a polygon inside of the circle

polygon: poly = many and gon = edge

if you imagine a hexagon drawn inside of a circle, the calculations of pi would be adding the length of the 6 sides and dividing it with the diameter, and that would be pi, not very accurate though.

You can do this because the circle is basically a polygon with an infinite number of edges, but you can't really draw/calculate on a polygon with an infinite number of edges, instead they get some kind of a super computer to calculate the total length of the sides in a 674859302*-gon divided by the diameter, and in that way giving a very accurate version of pi. But doing the same thing with a 674859303-gon would make an even more accurate version of pi, with even more decimals. So no matter how many egdes you use you can never reach infinite, and that's why there's always room for improvement addition of more decimals.

(I guess they just calculate the total length of all sides with the given diameter of 1, in that way they don't need to divide)
