The x-intercept is where the graph intercepts the x-axis (ie. y=0)

The y-intercept is where the graph intercepts the y-axis (ie. x=0)

3*x=2*y+2

y-intercept (substitute zero for x):

3*0=2*y+2

0=2*y+2 --> subtract 2 from each side

0-2=2*y+2-2

-2=2*y --> divide both sides by two

-1=y

coordinates: (0,-1)

x-intercept (substitute zero for y):

3*x=2*0+2

3*x=0+2 --> divide both sides by three

x=2/3

coordinates: (2/3, 0)

if the equation is rearranged to the form of y=mx+b (where m and b are numbers) the y-intercept is easy to determine.

3x=2y+2 --> subtract two from each side

3x-2=2y+2-2

3x-2=2y --> divide both sides by 2

1.5x-1=y

y=1.5x-1 (m=1.5, b=-1)

b is the location of the y-intercept. Therefore -1 is the y-intercept
