It would depend on whether you are talking about one of those 3-pack boxes they give kids in the restaurant or one of those crayola boxes with 40 shades of blue and a sharpener built in the back.

You want to pick a unit of measure that is close to the weight. The little box is on the order of 5-10 grams and the big box is on the order of 0.5 to 1 Kg.

It is not incorrect to give the distance to the next town in inches, just awkward.
