Adv. as long as you try all primes starting with the smallest you will get the correct answer.

Disadv. Time consuming. If you factor using larger numbers you can work faster, but you must remember to factor those as well.

Ex Write the prime factorization of 270.

You can easily see that 10 x 27 = 270 but neither is prime.

Now factor both 10 and 27.

10 = 2 x 5 both are prime

27 = 3x9 but 9 is not prime so 27 = 3x3x3 all are prime

So the prime factorization is 2x5x3x3x3

Faster if you just think and don't have to type it all to explain.
