IF THE NUMBER IS A NON-REPEATING DECIMAL USE THIS PROCEDURE:

(1) The whole number to the left of the decimal will be the whole number part of the fraction.

(2)Next count the number of digits to the right of the decimal.

(3) Then take 10 to the power of the number of digits, this will be the denominator part of the fraction.

(4) The numerator part of the fraction will be the digits after the decimal.

(5) Finally, if needed, reduce the fraction to lowest terms. For example: Convert 22.456624 to a fraction. (1) 22 will obviously be the whole number part of the fraction

(2) there are 6 digits to the right of the decimal so the denominator portion of the fraciton is 10^6 or 1,000,000.

(3) the numerator portion of the fraction will be 456624

(4) So the number 22.456624 can be written as 22 456624/1000000 which reduces to 22 28539/62500
