honestly just put it in your calculator and it will do it for you. there really is no easy way to do it.

but to do it the long way take a number like 7/8

to turn it into fraction form you need to do long division. it is very difficult to show long division here but i will try.

8[7] (imagine the boxed 7 means its under the sideways "L" when using long division)

8[7.000] (you need to make a couple of decimal places on the 7 to make sure you get the whole decimal. ok now since 8 does not go into 7 you need to put a 0 in the first place)

8 0[7.000] (if you did this the right direction your 0 should be right above the 7. place a decimal place right to the right of the 0 in the quotient)

8 0.[7.000] (now go out to 70 and find what times 8 will get you the closest to 70.. the number is 8... 8x8=64 8x9=72 you see that 8x8 is just under 70 and 8x9 is over 70... so you need 8)

8 0.8[7.000] ( you need to do these steps furthers and you get...)

8 0.875[7.000]

your answer is 0.875 or 7/8
