The naive way is to first calculate 10% of the given number and then subtract it from that number.
The smarter way is to recognise that subtracting 10% is the same as leaving (100-10) = 90 percent. Since 90% is 0.9, simply multiply the given number by 0.9
So, for example suppose you wish to subtract 10% from 67.3
Method I:
10% of 67.3 is 67.3*10/100 = 67.3*0.1 = 6.73
then 67.3 - 6.73 = 60.57
Method II
90% of 67.3 is 67.3*90/100 = 67.3*0.9 = 60.57
Work out what 10% (ie one tenth) of the number is. Then subtract it from the number. That is the same as finding 90% (ie nine tenths) of the number. Or multiply the number by 0.9.
Multiply the number by 0.75
You can decrease a number by 10 percent by multiplying it by 0.9
7 / 0.7 = 10 Therefore, the number that 7 is 70 percent of, is 10.
10 percent can't become a whole number.
To find 10 percent of a number, multiply the number by 0.1. In this instance, 0.1 x 47000 = 4700. Therefore, 10 percent of 47000 is equal to 4700.
Multiply the number by 0.75

44.2 millon times .10, then you subtract the answer of that from 44.2 millon. and that's your answer
take the mass number of boron-10 and subtract the atomic number then divide that number by mass number then multiply it by 100
If you subtract a negative number from another number, you always get a bigger number. That is because minus a minus is a plus So you could subtract any negative number from 10 and answer is bigger than 10.
Subtract the budget from the number that was actually spent. Divide that number by the budget. The budget was 10, the actual expenditure was 13.13 - 10 = 33 divided by 10 is 30 per cent
Divide the number by 5 and subtract the answer from the original number...
You have to turn the percentage into a decimal.
Multiply the original number by 0.9
Multiply the number by the percent in decimal form, and subtract the result from the original number. Alternatively, multiply the number by (1 - the percent).
Subtract 10% from 14580.10% = 145814580 - 1458 = 13122.
