Converting mixed numbers to decimals A mixed number is one containing a whole number and a fraction, such as 3 1/3 (three and one third) or 2 3/5 (two and three fifths). Converting mixed numbers to decimals is nothing more complicated than converting any fraction to a decimal. The whole number part of the mixed fraction will convert directly to the part of the decimal to the left of the decimal point. The fractional part, however, is more trouble, because that represents the part of the decimal to the right of the decimal point. To do that conversion, you need to know your fraction/decimal equivalents by rote (that is, you have to have them memorized), or you need to be able to do simple division. You should have certain proper fractions memorized. Here's a short list of the most important ones. 1/2 = 0.5 1/3 = 0.333 1/4 = 0.25 1/5 = 0.2 1/6 = 0.167 1/7 = 0.143 1/8 = 0.125 1/9 = 0.111 1/10 = 0.1 3/8 = 0.325 5/8 = 0.625 Therefore, 3 3/8 = 3.325. And 2 1/5 = 2.2. Note that you can quickly figure out in your head fractions that are multiples of the ones listed. For example, if you know that 1/3 = 0.333, you can know that 2/3 must be 0.666. Similarly, if you know that 1/5 is 0.2, you know that 2/5 is 0.4, 3/5 is 0.6, and 4/5 is 0.8. On the other hand, some fractions must be calculated using division because they are not worth committing to memory. If the fraction is 7/11, then you will have to use paper and pencil or a calculator to divide 7 by 11 (which is 0.636). So, 3 7/11 (three and seven elevenths) = 3.636.
Change it into an improper fraction and then divide the numerator by the denominator as for example 3 and 3/4 = 15/4 = 3.75
Change it into an improper fraction and then divide the numerator by the denominator as for example 3 and 3/4 = 15/4 = 3.75
Convert the mixed number to an improper fraction, then divide the denominator into the numerator.
If you know how to turn a mixed number into a fraction and a fraction into a decimal do that then make it negative.
The integer part of the mixed number is the integer part of the decimal. The use long division to convert the fractional part of the mixed number to the fractional part of the decimal.
Convert the mixed number to a decimal.
5.8 = 5 8/10 or 5 4/5
To convert the decimal number 8.43 to a mixed number, we first separate the whole number part and the decimal part. The whole number part is 8, and the decimal part is 0.43. To convert the decimal part to a fraction, we write 0.43 as 43/100 (since there are two decimal places). Therefore, the mixed number form of 8.43 is 8 43/100.
If you know how to turn a mixed number into a fraction and a fraction into a decimal do that then make it negative.
The integer part of the mixed number is the integer part of the decimal. The use long division to convert the fractional part of the mixed number to the fractional part of the decimal.
You cannot. A mixed number, by definition, has a fractional part. In converting to a decimal number, you cannot get rid of that fractional part and so you can never convert it to a decimal integer.
You cannot convert it to a mixed number unless you have a solid number before the decimal point.
Keep the whole-number-part exactly as it is, and re-write the decimal part as a fraction.
First, turn the mixed number into a improper fraction. Then change the improper fraction into a decimal. Then, change it into a percent by moving the decimal point two spaces to the right. Ex: .10 is 10%
Turn it into an improper fraction. Then take the top number and divide it by the bottom for a decimal. Change that into a percent.
Convert the mixed number to a decimal.
Convert the mixed number to a decimal and proceed.
Since the magnitude of the given number is less than 1 it cannot be expressed as a mixed number. It already appears as a decimal number in the question. I suggest that you read your questions before posting them!
Divide the decimal by a 100 which gives: 12 and 47/100
3/10=0.3 Since it is less than one, it cannot be written as a mixed number.
