Irrationals differ from Rationals by definition. If a real number is not a Rational Number then it is Irrational.

One way to find out if a number is either Rational or Irrational is to look at its decimal value. If the digits past the decimal point terminate then it is a Rational number. If the digits past the decimal point repeat the same digit forever, of if it repeats a sequence of digits over and over, then it is a Rational Number.

If the digits past the decimal point do not repeat in any pattern, and do not stop, then it is an Irrational number.

Another way to find out if a number is Rational or Irrational is if it can be exactly described by a fraction (ratio). If it is the same as some fraction, then it is a Rational Number. Irrationals cannot be exactly described as a fraction.

Can a rational number be an irrational?

Rational numbers and irrational numbers are two completely different groups. A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction of whole integers. An irrational number is a number that cannot be expressed as a fraction of whole integers. So a number is either rational or irrational.

What is the different between a rational and irrational number?

Rational numbers can be represented in the form x/y but irrational numbers cannot.

Can irrational numbers be rational numbers?

No. If it was a rational number, then it wouldn't be an irrational number.

Are rational numbers is an irrational numbers?

yes * * * * * No. Rational and irrational numbers are two DISJOINT subsets of the real numbers. That is, no rational number is irrational and no irrational is rational.

The rational numbers are a subset of the irrational numbers?

No, they are complementary sets. No rational number is irrational and no irrational number is rational.Irrational means not rational.

List of rational and irrational numbers?

-- There's an infinite number of rational numbers. -- There's an infinite number of irrational numbers. -- There are more irrational numbers than rational numbers. -- The difference between the number of irrational numbers and the number of rational numbers is infinite.

Are irrational numbers rational numbers?

No. Real numbers are divided into two DISJOINT (non-overlapping) sets: rational numbers and irrational numbers. A rational number cannot be irrational, and an irrational number cannot be rational.

Is -6.3 rational or irrational?

-6.3 is rational. Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction.

How are rational numbers different from a number?

Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction.

What is the Next to rational and irrational number?

Next to any rational number is an irrational number, but next to an irrational number can be either a rational number or an irrational number, but it is infinitely more likely to be an irrational number (as between any two rational numbers are an infinity of irrational numbers).

What will be the sum of a rational number and an irrational number?

It will be irrational. Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction.

Is the number -6.7 a rational or irrational number?

Rational. Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot be expressed as a fraction.
