An integer is a whole number. The set of integers can be expressed as {-∞, ..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ..., ∞}. The ∞ symbol represents infinity (an integer with infinite digits). The integer zero (0) lies at the centre of the set and is neither positive nor negative. The positive integers are the counting numbers greater than zero {1, 2, 3, ..., ∞}. The negative integers are the inverses of the counting numbers, all less than zero {-∞, ..., -3, -2, -1}. Positive integers are sometimes denoted with the + symbol for clarity, such as {+1, +2, +3, ..., +∞).
Positive integers are the counting numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on) greater than zero. Negative integers are their counterparts (-1, -2, -3, -4, -5 and so on) less than zero.

Negative integers are integers less than zero, like -1, -2, and -500. Positive integers are integers greater than zero, like 1, 5, and 73.

Sometimes, 0 is regarded as a positive integer. Depending on the kind of math you're doing, it may also be regarded as neither positive nor negative, or there may be two "kinds" of zero: positive 0 and negative 0, usually written +0 and -0.
