The number "3.14159" by itself is rational, since it can be written as 314159/100000. However, the number pi (which is about 3.14159) is not rational, because it continues endlessly.
Every fraction is an equivalent fraction: each fraction in decimal form has an equivalent rational fraction as well as an equivalent percentage fraction.
A fraction that has a different sign to the first fraction.
Divide the fraction by 100, and you will get the percentage of a fraction.
Or both. That's a complex fraction.

If you mean 314159 then it is a prime number
Given a circle with an area of 314,159; find the radius r. The area of a circle is determined by the formula π * r2 A = πr2 Because we have a value for A, we substitute 314159 = πr2 We have to get r on one side of the equation, by itself. To do this, divide both sides by π. ( 314159 / π ) = πr2 / π Simplify ( 314159 / π ) = r2 We need r to be the only thing on it's side of the equation, so we'll take the square root of both sides, and simplify. sqrt( 314159/π ) = r This answer is correct, but because we had a value for A, we can get a decimal approximation. r = sqrt ( 314159 / 3.14159 ) r = sqrt ( 100,000) r = 316.227766

Pi is a type of number called an irrational number. That means it cannot be written as a fraction. If we write the decimal representation of Pi, the first 4 numbers after the decimal are 1415 but it does continue on forever and there is no repeating patterns. The fact that is cannot be written as a fraction is equivalent to saying its decimal repesentation goes on forever. This is because if we COULD write it as a fractions, say by contradition the Pi is 3.14159 exactly (by contradiction means we know it is not) Then we could simply take this number and multiply the numerator and denominatory by 100000 and we would have a fraction, namely 314159/100000, but this means Pi is rational and it is not. THIS IS NOT a proof that pi is irrational. That proof is not too hard, but I will wait for someone to ask for it.
