43 is the prime you seek. This question is really easy if you know that even numbers larger than 2 are not prime, and that any number ending in 5 is a multiple. The integers greater than 41 and less than 47 are 42,43,44,45, and 46. 42,44,46 are even and 45 is a multiple of 5. Thus 43 is the only candidate. If it factors, is has a prime factor less than 7 since 7 X 7 = 49 and 49 > 43. 2 is not a factor since 43 is odd. 3 is not a factor is the sum of its digits is 7 which is not a multiple of 3. 5 is not a factor since it does not end in 5 .
